Term 1

We are learning skills to play possession games.  We have learnt how to pass and receive the ball, how to intercept and tackle, and how to dodge and weave while running.  We have transferred these skills to different ball games.  We have played games using small balls in hockey and large balls concentrating on footwork.  We have been working in small teams and developed our team work skills.  We have enjoyed playing hockey and look forward to learning new skills next term.

We have been learning about the human body and how it works.  We have researched the skeleton, the main organs, the skin, the heart, the brain and the lungs.  We had a class discussion after our daily mile to recall facts about the functions of different body parts of the body while we are exercising.  Now we know why our face goes red when we are exercising hard!

In Maths we have been learning about number processes.  We have been recalling our number bonds, rounding to the nearest ten and learning more about place value.  We also created a paisley pattern to display in our classroom.  We have begun learning how to read, show and record the time.

We have been learning how to write notes and organise them.  We wrote notes on some of the characters in our class novel, the Awful Auntie, and shared them with the class.  We are all enjoying the class novel and can’t wait to hear how it ends!
